With a record-breaking 31,000 people in attendance, the 2019 PACK EXPO enabled us to showcase our wide array of products and innovative technologies to an enthusiastic audience. Eager to discover cutting edge packaging at the forefront of our industry, customers gathered at our booth to experience the latest in connectivity, sustainability, and cost innovation.
We became a vanguard of sustainable packaging as we presented our commitment toward an environmentally-responsible future. Attendees were pleased to learn about our involvement in the Pacific Northwest Secondary Sorting Demonstration Project, which strives to prove out a cost-effective solution to help end plastic waste and support a circular economy. In line with our Impact 2025 sustainability strategy, we championed this initiative during PACK EXPO in order to inspire others in our industry to discover and support the value of recycled plastic.
Presenters Robert Flores, VP of Sustainability, and Scott Fisher, Design Director of Blue Clover Studios, drew a large crowd with standing room only as they shared their insights regarding sustainability and the circular economy. “Based on the cross-functional discipline of the show attendees we talked to, there was a shared initiative and sense of urgency for the future of sustainable packaging,” mused Scott Fisher. “We are committed to this initiative through a collaborative effort between design, engineering, and material science.”
Many attendees inquired about our Verdant? line, as well as our bio-bakery bags, due to the PCR (Post-Consumer Resin) content and recyclability of these products. Child-resistant closures and cannabis packaging solutions were also at the forefront of booth discussions. However, it was our Entour? packaging that made the greatest impact this year as it became the 2019 Baking & Snack Winner at the Technology Excellence Awards.
“PACK EXPO validated that our packaging innovation is aligned with what our customers and consumers desire; we are all working together to improve packaging design and reduce waste,” stated Lauren Piekos, VP of Marketing for Consumer Packaging, North America. Always advancing, we are already planning for the future at the 2020 PACK EXPO, which will provide us with another opportunity to lead our industry into the next stage of sustainable packaging.
